COVID SAFETY GUIDELINES BY SPORT

The following are guidelines for each sport. These are required to be followed in conjunction with all safety measures outlined in the Heyday Covid-19 Preparedness Plan. Some important highlights to point out from the plan are:

  • Do not attend if sick, displaying any symptoms of the Coronavirus, have been asked to quarantine within 14 days, or knowingly had close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
  • No spectators permitted at game sites.
  • No celebratory contact after points, games, subbing or making a good play.
  • No handshakes, high fives, fist bumps, elbow bumps, chest bumps etc... allowed between players.
  • Maintain six feet of distance from fellow participants and HDY staff/officials while outside an activity as well as whenever reasonably possible within an activity.

  • Bring personal supply of sanitizer to use frequently before, during and after games.

Please note all guidelines and safety measures are subject to change depending on updates issued by the CDC, state and local authorities.

 

Basketball

  • Balls must be sanitized before, at the half and after each game
  • Teams must play zone defense
  • No more than two players from each team in the paint at one time
  • Subs must social distance and are encouraged to stand in place
  • Each team of subs should be on opposite sides of the court

 

Beer Pong

  • Rubber gloves are recommended for each player
  • Facemasks are strongly recommended
  • Balls must be sanitized before and after each match

 

Cornhole

  • Facemasks are strongly recommended
  • Bags must be sanitized before and after each match
  • Rubber gloves are recommended for each player

 

Dodgeball

  • Balls must be sanitized before & after each individual game
  • Subs must social distance and are encouraged to stand in place
  • Each team of subs should be on opposite sides of the court

 

Kickball

  • Teams will use separate balls from opposing team when playing the field
  • Balls must be sanitized after each inning
  • Umpire will position himself/herself 6’ behind and to the side of the pitcher
  • Catcher will position himself/herself 6’ behind and to the side of the batter
  • Any subs or players waiting to kick must social distance


Field Hockey

  • Balls must be sanitized before, at the half and after each game
  • Refrain from sharing equipment
  • No more than one player besides the keeper allowed in goal
  • When a penalty corner occurs, players should socially distance until the ball is inserted
  • No castle or battery at the top of the circle
  • Refrain from picking up the ball as much as possible
  • Subs must social distance and are encouraged to stand in place
  • Each team of subs should be on opposite sides of the field
  • "Play the ball, not the person" - limit contact; respect personal space

 

Floor Hockey

  • Balls must be sanitized before, at the half and after each game
  • Refrain from sharing equipment
  • Refrain from picking up the ball as much as possible 
  • No body checking
  • Subs must social distance and are encouraged to stand in place
  • Each team of subs should be on opposite sides of the court
  • "Play the ball, not the person" - limit contact; respect personal space

 

Flag Football

  • Each team uses its own ball
  • Balls must be sanitized before, at the half and after each game
  • Players will be given their own flags to keep for the season
  • Subs must social distance and are encouraged to stand in place
  • Each team of subs should be on opposite sides of the field
  • On pass defense "play the ball, not the person" - limit contact; respect personal space

 

Touch Football

  • Each team uses its own ball
  • Balls must be sanitized before, at the half and after each game
  • Two-hand touch should avoid touching another person’s hands or face
  • Subs must social distance and are encouraged to stand in place
  • Each team of subs should be on opposite sides of the field
  • On pass defense "play the ball, not the person" - limit contact; respect personal space


Lacrosse

  • Balls must be sanitized before, at the half and after each game
  • Refrain from sharing equipment
  • Subs must social distance and are encouraged to stand in place
  • Each team of subs should be on opposite sides of the field
  • "Play the ball, not the person" - limit contact; respect personal space

 

Gym Soccer

  • No body checking
  • Balls must be sanitized before, at the half and after each game
  • Refrain from sharing equipment
  • Avoid picking up the ball with your hands
  • Goalkeepers should wear gloves and disinfect them between games
  • Subs must social distance and are encouraged to stand in place
  • Each team of subs should be on opposite sides of the court
  • "Play the ball, not the person" - limit contact; respect personal space

 

Artificial Turf/Grass Soccer

  • No body checking
  • Balls must be sanitized before, at the half and after each game
  • Avoid picking up the ball with your hands
  • No throw-ins allowed - only kick-ins permitted
  • Goalkeepers should wear gloves and disinfect them between games
  • Subs must social distance and are encouraged to stand in place
  • Each team of subs should be on opposite sides of the field
  • "Play the ball, not the person" - limit contact; respect personal space

 

Softball

  • Teams will use separate balls from the opposing team when playing the field
  • Balls must be sanitized after each half inning
  • Refrain from sharing equipment
  • Umpire will position himself/herself 6’ behind and to the side of the pitcher or catcher
  • Catcher will position himself/herself 6’ behind and to the side of the batter
  • Any subs or players waiting to bat must social distance


Tennis

  • Each match must begin with new balls and each team must have their own set
  • Refrain from sharing racquets

 

Volleyball

  • Balls must be sanitized before and after each game
  • No celebratory contact after points, games, or matches
  • Players should remain in their own zone on the court
  • Teams may switch sides by going around opposite sides of the net
  • Subs must social distance and are encouraged to stand in place
  • Each team of subs should be on opposite sides of the court

 

Ultimate Frisbee

  • Frisbees must be sanitized before and after each game
  • Subs must social distance and are encouraged to stand in place
  • Each team of subs should be on opposite sides of the field
  • "Play the disc, not the person" - limit contact; respect personal space
